FTP Activity

The FTP Activity report lists general information about FTP file transfers including user ID, dataset name, IP addresses and performance information.

It is generated from SMF type 119 records subtypes 3 and 70. The report is divided into Server and Client tabs.

Report Parameters

File TypeFilter by FTP file type.
IP AddrFilter by local or remote IP address.

Columns

ColumnDescription
TimeThe time the record was written (transfer completion).
SystemThe system that wrote the record.
Userz/OS Userid.
DatasetDataset or file name.
CommandFTP command.
File TypeFTP file type (SEQ, JES, SQL).
ComponentTCP/IP subcomponent. FTPS, FTPC, SFTPS etc.
HostnameFTP client remote host name.
Remote UserFTP client remote user.
MemberMember name.
New NameNew dataset or file name for a rename operation.
New MemberNew member name for a rename operation.
Data TypeTransfer data type.
ModeTransmission mode.
StructureData structure.
Dataset TypeDataset type.
DurationTransfer duration.
BytesThe number of bytes transferred.
Bytes/SecTransfer speed. If the duration is less then 0.01 second this cannot be calculated.
Last ReplyLast server reply.
Local IPLocal IP address for the control connection.
Local Data IPLocal IP address for the data connection. This will normally be the same as the control connection. It is only shown if there are entries where the data connection address is different to the control connection.
Remote IPRemote IP address for the control connection.
Remote Data IPRemote IP address for the data connection. This will normally be the same as the control connection. It is only shown if there are entries where the data connection address is different to the control connection.
Local PortLocal port for the control connection.
Remote PortRemote port for the control connection.
Local Data PortLocal port for the data connection.
Remote Data PortRemote port for the data connection.
